Sensirion Temperature/Humidity Sensor

Sensirion Temperature/Humidity Sensor

32PX28018 34.95
Humidity is notoriously difficult to measure. Some of the scientific and electronic
considerations to measuring humidity include: analog to digital interface and external
circuitry which might require op-amps or oscillator circuitry; temperature compensation
adjustments to calculate dew point; calibration against a known humidity source;
mounting, protection and response time in the real-world.

The Sensirion SHT1x addresses many of these issues head on. It is a smart sensor for both
humidity and temperature, and it comes from the factory in a tiny package that incorporates
the analog to digital interface. All that the BASIC Stamp has to do is read out the humidity
and temperature values through the two-wire digital serial interface. The only math required
is a simple scale and offset. The SHT1x is factory calibrated so that it returns temperature
with a resolution of 0.01 degrees Celsius and relative humidity with a resolution of 0.03 percent.
The accuracy is better than most other sensors too. Worst-case temperature accuracy
is +/- 2 degrees C - but in the "room temperature"range the accuracy better than +/- 1 degree C.
The relative humidity sensor is similarly accurate: +/- 3.5% in the range 20% to 80%.
This is quite remarkable for a low-cost sensor. Excellent for commercial
or home-based projects that require such readings.

TSL235R Light to Frequency Converter

See larger view

32PX604-00084 $2.95
The TSL235R light-to-frequency converter combines a silicon photodiode and a current-to-frequency converter on a single monolithic CMOS integrated circuit. The output is a square wave (50% duty cycle) with frequency directly proportional to light intensity. Because it is TTL compatible, the output allows direct interface to a microcontroller or other logic circuitry. The device has been temperature compensated for the ultraviolet-to-visible light range of 320 nm to 700 nm and responds over the light range of 320 nm to 1050 nm.

Piezo Film Vibra Tab Mass

Piezo Film Vibra Tab Mass
32PX605-0004 1.95

This vibration sensor is model LTD0 manufactured by Measurement Specialties.
Whether used as a vibration sensor, a flexible switch, or a frequency response device
piezo film is an interesting sensor to interface with BASIC Stamps.
Piezo film is used with the COUNT or PULSIN commands on a BASIC Stamp.

Note: Output needs to be conditioned before connecting to a BASIC Stamp I/O pin.

The PING)))™ sensor
PING

32PX28015 29.90
The PING)))™ sensor measures distance using sonar; an ultrasonic (well above human hearing)
pulse is transmitted from the unit and distance-to-target is determined by measuring the time
required for the echo return.Output from the PING)))™ sensor is a variable-width pulse that
corresponds to the distance to the target.Interfacing to the BASIC Stamp and Javelin Stamp
microcontrollers is a snap: a single (shared) I/O pin is use to trigger the Ping sensor and "listen"
for the echo return pulse. And the intelligent trigger hold-off allows the PING)))™ to work
with the BS1! An onboard three-pin header allows the PING)))™ to be plugged into a solderless
breadboard (on a Boe-Bot, for example), and to be connected to its host through a standard
three-pin servo extension cable.
LIST OF TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Simple pulse in / pulse out communication
  • Indicator LED shows measurement in progress
  • Input Trigger - positive TTL pulse, 2 uS min, 5 uS typ.
  • Echo Pulse - positive TTL pulse, 115 uS to 18.5 mS
  • Echo Hold-off - 350 uS from fall of Trigger pulse
  • Burst Frequency - 40 kHz for 200 uS
  • Size - 22 mm H x 46 mm W x 16 mm D (0.85 in x 1.8 in x 0.6 in)

Flexiforce Sensor Demo Kit

Flexiforce Sensor

32PX30056 24.50

The active sensing area is a .375" diameter circle at the end of the sensor. The conductive
leads are easy to connect to a breadboard or through-hole area. The Flexiforce has an ideal
output for A/D conversion - 0V is no force and 4.2V is 100 lbs. The RCTIME command
may be used with a LOOKUP table or calibration formula to execute some math to make
the output useful. The kit includes a 220 ohm resistor, 0.1 uF and 0.01 uF capacitor,
Flexiforce sensor, and printed documentation.

Some Applications:
Aerospace Engineering , Weather Seal/Strip, Univeristy Research Projects,
Touch Pads, Joystick Handles, On/Off Switches, Alarm Systems
